GEI South Africa: Global Engineering (Summer I) 

Program Overview
This 3-week field engagement course offers a focused introduction to global engineering challenges in South Africa. Students engage in field visits, site analysis, and collaborative workshops, applying human-centered design to real-world sustainability issues.

Program Highlights
  • Study infrastructure, technology, and environmental systems in action
  • Work with local experts and community partners to analyze development projects
  • Build design, analysis, and teamwork skills through guided learning
  • Explore the cultural and historical context shaping South African innovation

Academics
Course & Credits ($ total):
  • ENG302: Global Field Engagement (4 credits)
Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand engineering roles in development systems
  • Practice field-based data gathering and stakeholder analysis
  • Strengthen cultural and ethical awareness in engineering practice
  • Contribute to early-stage collaborative design processes

Unique Experiences in South Africa
Site visits could include informal settlements, eco-engineering projects, or university innovation hubs. You'll be exposed to the ingenuity and resilience of South African engineers and communities.
