Program Overview

Your Engineering, Technology + Sciences program in Monteverde lasts 12 weeks and offers you an integrated global learning experience that connects your coursework with real-world applications. You will enroll in a combination of CIEE courses and courses taught online through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU, that focus on science, technology, engineering, or math. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities related to engineering, technology, and science. Live and learn in Monteverde!

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Monteverde will open doors for you to explore Costa Rica’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.  

Samples of past excursions and activities: 

  • Enjoy the view from the treetops while ziplining and learn about the role of ecotourism in Costa Rica’s economy
  • Visit Life Monteverde, a sustainable local farm, where you will experience the integration of agricultural engineering and technology in coffee production
