There’s no better place than Athens, Greece for aspiring medical professionals eager to deepen their understanding of cardiology in a truly immersive setting. With its long-standing medical heritage, modern healthcare facilities, and dynamic clinical environment, Greece offers a unique backdrop for hands-on clinical observation and learning. Cardiology interns in Athens are immersed in the day-to-day practice of cardiology, shadowing experienced specialists across outpatient clinics, diagnostic units, and hospital departments. This exposure provides a comprehensive view of cardiovascular medicine, allowing interns to observe the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of heart conditions. From acute cardiac events to long-term disease management ,interns gain insight into how cardiology teams support patients throughout every stage of care.

Throughout the program, interns observe patient consultations, advanced diagnostic procedures, and real-time clinical decision-making. You’ll gain an understanding of how cardiologists interpret test results, weigh treatment options, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, technicians, and other specialists, to deliver effective, patient-centered care.

Greek or other foreign languages are not a requirement to join. However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.

Interns should expect that the first week of your experience will focus on settling in and gaining some introductory knowledge, to build an understanding of what you can develop, learn, and contribute. Interns are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback, so that your supervisor(s) understands how you’re progressing and can assist to develop your internship accordingly.

Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, up to 8 hours per day. Flexibility is a key requirement, as the unpredictable nature of tasks may require shift work (8am to 2pm or 2pm to 8pm). Interns should be adaptable, proactive and willing to help where it’s needed. You will be welcome to adapt your schedule or contribute extra hours, provided that discussion and agreement to do so takes place between you and your coordinator/supervisor.
