This program ranges from 2 - 12 weeks and has start dates every Monday throughout the year.

Eligibility Requirements
Animal Care internships in Crete are suitable for students and recent graduates, with at least one year of relevant college/university study in a related field, such as veterinary sciences, animal sciences, biology, etc. High School graduates aged 18+ may be accepted.
This internship is conducted in English. However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent.

If you’re passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of domesticated pets, this is a great opportunity to develop your skills supporting animal shelters, vets, or care staff.
Animal Care interns play a vital role in assisting to enhance the lives of domestic animals across various shelters in Crete. Hands-on responsibilities may include ensuring animals’ hygiene, grooming, exercise, and rehabilitation, while also assisting local professionals with medical care requirements. Beyond practical duties, interns offer much-needed companionship to shelter animals, helping to uplift their spirits and improve their quality of life.
Greek or other foreign languages are not a requirement to join. However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.
What to expect in your first week: Interns should expect that the first week of your experience will focus on settling in and gaining some introductory knowledge, to build an understanding of what you can develop, learn, and contribute. Interns are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback, so that your supervisor(s) understands how you’re progressing and can assist to develop your internship accordingly.
Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, up to 8 hours per day.
