Advertising and Public Relations in Uruguay
The Advertising and Public Relations in Uruguay program will teach you how to construct campaigns and media messaging that is intended for domestic, regional, and transnational audiences. You will learn how Uruguayan marketers appeal to consumers globally and will work hands-on with a winery in Uruguay to develop a global communications campaign. Included in the program are trips to regional cities, vineyards, and cultural sites. A weekend excursion to Buenos Aires, Argentina is also included.
Ideal for students in media studies, advertising, public relations, and journalism, you will take a Global Culture course and a Global Campaign Strategies course which are tailored to the Uruguayan context and focus on the local wine industry as a case study. Both courses are taught in English by Professor Chris Chavez of the University of Oregon's School of Journalism and Communication.
GEO program fees cover tuition, housing, and some meals, excursions, books and course materials, local transportation passes, and on-site orientation. Insurance and a 24-hour emergency service are also included. For scholarship funding information, please visit our website's
