CIEE January in Auckland, New Zealand

Your January in Auckland program lasts three-and-a-half weeks and is designed for students from all academic backgrounds. You will enroll in one CIEE course taught at CIEE Auckland. Enhance your experience with extracurricular activities while immersing yourself in New Zealand’s culture. Live and learn in Auckland!
Unique Experiences
Learn Maori perspectives on sustainability
at an urban community garden to understand indigenous and contemporary connections to the land
Explore Tiritiri Matangi Island
to photograph rare native birds, coastal forests, and restored habitats
Walk Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill domain
and visit the Stardome Observatory to explore Maori and colonial histories embedded in the stars
Academic Course: Take one CIEE course delivered in-person at the CIEE Center.Immersive Experiences: Participate in activities, excursions, study tours, and more, that showcase Auckland's culture, values, and local art, film, music, cuisine, and sports scenes.
Cultural Projects: Volunteer with members of the local community, join student clubs to socialize with your peers, and attend local workshops and events to get to know your host city.

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Auckland will open doors for you to explore New Zealand’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, contemporary trends, vibrant art, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Enjoy a waterfront evening under the stars at Silo Park, with films, food trucks, and live music
Visit Avondale Farmers Market, a local favorite for sampling international flavors and connecting with community culture
Ferry to Devonport to explore volcanic cones, heritage architecture, and beautiful North Shore beaches

Minority Serving Institutions (MIS) Grant - $2,000/semester and $500/summer, guaranteed to all students attending MSIs.
