Program Overview

Your Open Campus Block program in São Paulo lets you design a study abroad experience while living in Brazil’s largest city. You’ll enroll in CIEE courses and online courses taught through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. Beyond the classroom, experience São Paulo through co-curricular and extracurricular activities like exploring world-class museums such as Museo de Arte São Paulo (MASP), discovering neighborhoods like Vila Madalena, sampling Brazil’s diverse food scene, and experiencing the music, art, and cultural life that shape the city. Life here means experiencing the rhythm of one of the world’s most electric cities.

Program Highlights

  • Academic Projects: Enroll in an optional for-credit academic project that aligns with your goals, qualifications, resume, and availability of placements.

Excursions & Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in São Paulo will open doors for you to explore Brazil’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of excursions and activities include:  

  • Move to the rhythm of Samba, Samba Rock, Forró, and Gafieira in lively dance classes 
  • Marvel at the extraordinary art and gardens of Inhotim, a world-renowned contemporary art destination 
  • Explore the Atlantic Coast with a day trip to São Paulo’s North Coast, where lush Atlantic Forest meets the sea in breathtaking landscapes
