Program Description:
Work and learn alongside Veterinarians at an Elephant Sanctuary and a Dog Rescue in Thailand

This two-week adventure of a lifetime gives you the opportunity to go to Thailand to volunteer at an Elephant Sanctuary in Northern Thailand, providing hands-on care, love, and support for the 100+ elephants who live there. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with our staff vet to care for dogs at a dog rescue clinic in Chiang Mai, Thailand where you will get hands-on practice providing medical care. You will also get the chance to experience magnificent Thailand first-hand.

Highlights
• Study and care for rescued elephants
• Shadow an elephant vet
• Gain research experience and discuss your findings with an elephant veterinarian
• Live at the Elephant Nature Park for a week
• Learn about Buddhism in Thailand and how it impacts the practice of veterinary medicine
• Have the chance to meet world-renowned conservationist and ENP founder Lek Chailert
• At the Dog Rescue Clinic, you will practice small animal clinical skills and assist during surgeries to the dogs at this local organization in need.
• Go out into the community to work with local dogs in need, such as at temples or partner shelter organizations
• Learn about tropical canine diseases
• Spend a week living in Chiang Mai, enjoying Thai foods, shopping in markets, and exploring the beautiful city
• See a bit of the best of Chiang Mai on the weekends, including temple visits, ziplining, and more!

Who It’s For
This program is for current students in a vet tech program (either in-person or online). The program will be taught by a Loop Abroad veterinarian who will lead lessons and labs.

Successful participants in this program should already be comfortable performing the following:

• Blood draws on dogs and cats
• Catheter placement on dogs and cats
• Physical restraint and intake exam on dogs and cats
