Program Overview

Your CIEE Summer Intern and Study Abroad program in Auckland lasts 6 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (15-20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3-credit academic course taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with cultural and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in New Zealand culture. Live, learn, and work in Auckland!

Excursions & Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Auckland will open doors for you to explore New Zealand’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, contemporary trends, vibrant art, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of past excursions and activities:

  • Marvel at the stars with a free visit to Stardome Observatory's planetarium demonstrations of the constellations over our heads and learn about Pacific celestial traditions
  • Take a ferry to Rangitoto Island, Auckland's iconic volcanic gem, and hike through lush landscapes to explore its unique volcanic terrain
  • Visit Auckland's west coast to explore stunning black sand beaches and rugged wilderness trails
