Internship Details
Environmental Education interns join a multidisciplinary team in Samos, Greece, where a Marine Conservation Institute operates year-round. Interns assist the NGO with crucial outreach activities, designed to enhance community engagement, give back, and educate on marine and environmental biodiversity. Contribute to workshops, videos, presentations and other creative interactive activities, as you develop a broad range of transferable skills to further your career.
This internship role primarily involves environmental education plans, providing creative freedom to interns, who can design and implement new activities and materials. Whether working independently or within a team, interns are tasked with building understanding and support for diverse environmental protection priorities - whether at a local, national, or international level. Join an effort to increase knowledge and interest in worthy environmental causes, and inspire others to generate change.
While Environmental Education interns may have opportunities to assist multidisciplinary conservation teams with fieldwork activities, this will be subject to availability. In the event that an intern is afforded the opportunity to attend certain fieldwork surveys, to expand their own knowledge and understanding, they may be asked to complete theoretical training/preparation tasks.
Interns should expect that the first week of your experience will focus on settling in, building new relationships, gaining introductory and foundational knowledge. Being able to balance the motivation to get stuck in as soon as possible must be balanced with teamwork, patience, the willingness to try new things, achieve learning milestones, and ask questions as you progress.
You might find yourself trying new things - however, this can greatly benefit your future career, as it adds so much more practical experience to your resume! A commitment to responsible communication and self-management is required. Supervisors will assign tasks and projects but interns are required to organize and put suitable timelines in place for achieving the best outcome.
