Program Information
Build your cross-cultural teaching skills in a hands-on environment, learning from experienced local teachers in Spain. Interns can assist with classes and lesson planning, putting English abilities to the test! Connect with students of all ages as you support students with their acquisition of English language listening and speaking skills. Prepare and run lessons, build mentoring and teaching techniques, and foster positive classroom environments. Interns additionally have access to their own Spanish language lessons through this internship program.
This program ranges from 4-24 weeks and has start dates every Monday throughout the year.
Your fully-hosted experience includes sourcing of your internship placement, personalization of your project plan, airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals, and onsite student support. See our
full list of fees and inclusions on our website.
Eligibility Requirements
Suitable for students with at least one year of relevant college/university study in a related field, such as Education, Social Work, TEFL training, etc. Recent graduates (within the past 24 months) may apply.
This internship is conducted in either Spanish (if the intern speaks the language), or English (via a supervisor who speaks English, if the intern does not speak Spanish). However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. With the exception of fluent or native Spanish language speakers, all interns are required to attend 10 (complimentary) Spanish language lessons, within the first 2 weeks of their internship.
Internship Details
As an English Language Education intern, you’ll learn from experienced local teachers, assisting in lessons and day-to-day duties to build your confidence and knowledge. Learn how to prepare fun, engaging and educational content to foster positive learning, while building your communication skills and professional competency.
A range of language, public and private schools are available in Seville, for English Language Education internships. If you’re passionate about making a difference and helping others to reach their potential, then a career in education can be highly rewarding. Interns can assist local English language teachers with activities related to vocabulary development, spelling, pronunciation, lesson planning, classroom support, mentoring, and more. As there is broad scope for interns to assist young people with a range of learning activities, you’ll be sure to enhance mutually beneficial social and educational development.
It is important to be aware that this internship is unavailable for holiday periods in July, August, and for three weeks between Christmas and the New Year. Interns wishing to participate in this program will be required to work around these breaks.
Spanish language proficiency is not a requirement to join. However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. Interns should be prepared for the very natural and normal frustration of not always understanding what is being said around them. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.
In all cases, interns should expect that the beginning of their internship experience will focus on settling in and gaining introductory knowledge. Ensure that you ask questions and provide feedback during the introductory period, so that your supervisor understands how you’re progressing. This will help them to better understand important details, such as how quickly you learn, what you find challenging, what you find interesting, etc.
