Program Information

Seville has long been celebrated as a lively arts destination. A city filled with rich culture, language, art, dance, music, food, and history - there’s no better immersive experience for people seeking an internship abroad, in the Art & Culture industry. Interns are given the opportunity to collaborate with experienced cultural, historical and artistic experts across customized placements in museums and galleries, theaters, cultural hubs, and other artistic venues.

This program ranges from 4-24 weeks and has start dates every Monday throughout the year.

Your fully-hosted experience includes sourcing of your internship placement, personalization of your project plan, airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals, and onsite student support. See our full list of fees and inclusions on our website.

Eligibility Requirements

Suitable for interns with at least one year of relevant college/university study in a relevant field, such as arts, archaeology, anthropology, history, classics, design, event management, marketing, etc. Interns must have an interest in history, classics and philosophy. Recent graduates (within the past 24 months) may also apply.

This internship is conducted in either Spanish (if the intern speaks the language), or English (via a supervisor who speaks English, if the intern does not speak Spanish). However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. With the exception of fluent or native Spanish language speakers, all interns are required to attend 10 (complimentary) Spanish language lessons, within the first 2 weeks of their internship.

Internship Details

Arts & Culture internships in Seville are designed to foster confidence in utilizing practical skills and applying theoretical knowledge to real-life artistic situations. Interns will have the opportunity to actively engage in hands-on tasks, contributing to the overall artistic objectives and ongoing projects of their placement, under the guidance of professionals working in their field. Whether you’re contributing to the preservation and showcasing of artistic heritage, assisting in the coordination of theater productions, musical events, and dance performances, you’ll gain valuable insight into artistic processes.

With potential placements available within a range of museums, theaters and cultural hubs and artist centers, there is ample opportunity to learn something new. Interns are matched to a placement in consideration of their individual skills, study background and prior experience. If you’re at a more introductory level, you should reasonably expect a more introductory internship. Likewise, if you’re interning for a shorter duration, you will have a different experience from someone who is interning for a longer duration. Placement preferences are considered but always subject to availability.

Spanish language proficiency is not a requirement to join. However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. Interns should be prepared for the very natural and normal frustration of not always understanding what is being said around them. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.

To support interns with both cultural and language integration, all internships in Seville include two weeks of mandatory Spanish language lessons. These lessons are included within the minimum duration requirement of the internship. Therefore, activities at the internship placement will commence from the third week, after completion of the language program. If you are already an intermediate or advanced Spanish language speaker, you may be permitted to commence the internship placement directly. However, this will be confirmed on-site, upon review of your ability.

In all cases, interns should expect that the beginning of their internship experience will focus on settling in and gaining introductory knowledge. Ensure that you ask questions and provide feedback during the introductory period, so that your supervisor understands how you’re progressing. This will help them to better understand important details, such as how quickly you learn, what you find challenging, what you find interesting, etc.
