SIT Study Abroad Panama: Marine Ecology & Blue Carbon Conservation in the Pacific & Caribbean (Summer)
Learn to measure blue carbon and marine biodiversity in coral reefs, mangroves, wetlands, and seagrass beds across the Pacific and Caribbean. Explore Panama’s diverse ecosystems in settings such as Coiba Island UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Guna Yala Indigenous territory. Study carbon accumulation, marine ecology, and climate change while snorkeling in top diving sites and conducting research with marine biologists. Complete a two-week independent field project using scientific methodologies to gather, analyze, and present data on marine conservation.
