Program Description:
IVHQ Trinidad and Tobago Women's Empowerment
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Women's Empowerment volunteer project in Trinidad and Tobago.

Program Information

International Volunteer HQ’s Women’s Empowerment project is an opportunity for open-minded and compassionate volunteers to help women from the local community up-skill and become self-sufficient. You’ll be supported by local staff, but an intermediate level of Spanish is encouraged, as there is a large population of Spanish speaking immigrants whom this placement works with locally.

Volunteers are accommodated in 1-bedroom apartments that reside within a local B&B complex, and each apartment can fit up to 2 individuals.

The program has start dates every second and fourth Monday throughout the year.

This program ranges from 1-4 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.

Your Impact

Volunteers support a local NGO that supports women who have varying levels of trauma, as a result of trafficking, abusive relationships and personal trauma. The aim of this NGO is to support women (and their children) by providing clothing, food, housing solutions, and to help them develop life skills to help them start over as independent members of society.

The NGO works in four key areas, which volunteers can get involved in, including:
  • Sustainable agriculture through a food garden aimed at improving nutrition
  • A thrift store where clothing is sorted and distributed
  • Developing life skills through education and personal skill development
  • Administration such as grant and proposal writing, social media management and other administrative tasks to support the running of the NGO
