IVHQ TT Childcare
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Childcare volunteer project in Trinidad and Tobago.

Program Information

International Volunteer HQ’s Childcare project gives volunteers the chance to assist in local childcare centers in Crown Point on the beautiful island of Tobago. Volunteers gain experience caring for local kids and ease the workload for staff by helping with daily tasks that support children to learn and grow in a fun and caring environment.

Volunteers are accommodated in 1-bedroom apartments that reside within a local B&B complex, and each apartment can fit up to 2 individuals.

The program has start dates every second and fourth Monday throughout the year. Please note that during school exams and holidays in early January, early April, July to August, and late December, this project closes temporarily. Volunteers will need to choose another project to support if you can only travel in these times.

This program ranges from 1-4 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.

Your Impact

Kindergartens are busy places, often with many children and many demands on the few staff working there. As a volunteer on the Childcare project in Trinidad and Tobago, you will play an important role in assisting local teachers with informal learning and developmental activities. The children are aged between 3 - 5 years old and full of energy and an enthusiasm for learning.

Childcare volunteer work can vary but your tasks will likely involve:
  • Assisting with arts and crafts
  • Singing songs
  • Reading stories
  • Arranging outdoor games
  • Preparing snacks

You’re encouraged to come prepared with ideas to bring to the classroom, which you can also discuss with the local team.
