Program Description:
IVHQ Ethical Fashion in Greece
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Ethical Fashion volunteer project in Greece.

Program Information

International Volunteer HQ’s Ethical Fashion project gives you the opportunity to join an amazing community of organizations that open up employment to refugees and survivors of human trafficking. You’ll be helping advocate for ethical and sustainable fashion in today’s world of fast fashion and directly supporting the upcycling and recycling fashion movement in Greece.

Volunteers are accommodated in a dormitory-style hostel conveniently located in the heart of Athens. Only a 4 minute walk from Omonia Square, where the second most central metro stop is, and a 30 minute walk to Acropolis. The neighborhood offers many amenities, supermarkets, bars, local coffee shops, ATMS’s, shopping malls and all transportation means. The airport is just 45 minutes away via public transportation.

The program has start dates on the first and third Monday of each month throughout the year.

This program ranges from 4-12 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.

Your Impact

You will volunteer directly with local non-profit organizations that are creating ethically made fashion apparel from upcycled materials, distributing repurposed clothing, and offering equal employment opportunities to refugees and survivors of human trafficking.

Volunteers are needed for manual tasks in the collection factory, sorting and cleaning clothes. As well as communication and coordination support in workshops and social media support in content creation and filmmaking.

Your tasks will vary day-to-day but can include:
  • Collecting clothing from donation drop-off points and transporting it back to the sorting factory
  • Sorting donated clothing into relevant categories. Good condition clothing is cleaned and donated
  • Clothing which can’t be donated is cleaned and passed on to the upcycling team to create new clothing and other fashion items
  • Packaging and sealing clothing bundles for donation
  • Distributing clothing bundles
  • Facilitating and organizing events and workshops
