You will enroll in a combination of CIEE courses, host institution courses, and courses taught online through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. CIEE Edinburgh offers two housing options to ensure you're comfortable in?your home away from home. You will have the choice of a homestay or a single or double room in a shared apartment or residence hall. Additionally, all housing options?are?located in?neighborhoods with convenient access to public?transportation,?shops,?cafés, and eateries.

Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Florence will open doors for you to explore Italy's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of past excursions and activities:

  • Enjoy excursions to Florentine locations, such as the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore, Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, and more
  • Visit smaller historical Tuscan cities, such as Lucca, Siena, or Volterra
  • Explore a traditional working vineyard and olive grove, with an in-depth description of wine and oil production, promotion, and distribution

Academics

CIEE Florence: Located in historic Palazzina Marchi on Piazza della Indipendenza, the Study Center is just steps from the University of Florence, Florence University of the Arts, San Lorenzo Market, the train station, and airport tram. Surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and local favorites, the Study Center features an architecturally unique octagonal studio commissioned by American sculptor Horatio Greenough, filled with natural light from every angle.

Florence University of the Arts (FUA): The American University of Florence is an Italian Institute of Higher Education accredited and authorized by the Region of Tuscany to conduct approved formative educational courses. FUA-AUF is a free-standing, private, non-denominational institution.  

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
