Program Description:
Women Empowerment Tanzania
Join Intern Abroad HQ, the world’s most affordable international internship organization, and invest in your future with a Women’s Empowerment and Education Internship in Tanzania.

Women’s Education internships support community groups in Tanzania that are dedicated to helping girls and women achieve their potential in a safe and secure environment. Interns contribute to community programs that provide at-risk women, widows and those suffering from HIV/AIDS with increased access to housing, education, job training and mentoring, helping to improve their situations and outlook for the future.

Interns in Arusha are accommodated together on one of the city’s most top-rated guest houses, located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood (just 15 minutes from town center). Living is safe, clean, modern and comfortable, including 24/7 gated security, housekeeping, and a live-in local coordinator.

Eligibility requirement

Participants must have a minimum of one year in further education (college/university) in a relevant field, such as education, health sciences, psychology, social work, etc. Interns may also have relevant experience related to education and teaching, or desire to gain experience in the TEFL industry.

Language requirements

This internship is conducted in English.

Internship Details

Interns can choose to join a semi-structured program that helps girls and women to create their own short and long term goals, toward their plans for the future. These goals may include ambitions to finish high school, enhance employability skills, and gain a job to generate income for themselves.

You’ll contribute through assisting with reading, writing and computer classes, homework tuition, general vocational skills, and also support the general operation of the foundation. This can involve community outreach, life counseling work, and working alongside the project director to provide one-on-one mentorship for women who are working to overcome various challenges.

Alternatively, interns can join a program focused on providing assistance for Widows and HIV/AIDs support for single mothers. Interns help in the running of vocational training classes which include tailoring, soap making, micro business and entrepreneurship. These classes foster female financial confidence and independence, while promoting self reliance on personal skills to make a living.
