Program Description:

Street Children Ecuador
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, on the Street Children Volunteer Work in Ecuador.

You will help an NGO running a childcare center in a local market where working parents often can’t afford to send their children to school. The children tend to spend long days at the market where there is little in the way of positive education or entertainment. Volunteers will gain childcare experience while letting parents focus on their jobs and giving the kids a fun, productive and educational way to spend their time.

You’ll stay in a volunteer house or homestay. Bedrooms have single beds, bunk beds or a double bed and you can expect to share a room with one or two other volunteers.

Programs start every Monday throughout the year.

While volunteer schedules depend on the particular projects and placements, a typical day might look like this:

7:30 AM Breakfast at the volunteer house or homestay
8:00 AM Volunteers leave home and travel to their placements. Work and hours are dependent on the project and placement that each volunteer is working at.
2:00 - 5:00 PM Work at the placement usually ends. Volunteers are free to travel back to their accommodation, prepare for the next day, or do some shopping and sightseeing. If volunteers are taking Spanish language lessons, these will usually take place in the afternoons and last 2-3 hours.
7:30 PM Dinner at the volunteer house or homestay.

Spanning Saturday to Monday, weekends are extra long for volunteers in Quito so there is plenty of time to relax or explore other parts of the city and Ecuador.

This program ranges from 1-12 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.
