Special Needs China
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Special Needs Care Volunteer Program in China.

On this program, you will assist and interact with young disabled people who aren’t able to attend mainstream school. Volunteers will help at centers where they will gain experience working with people with disabilities and give them care, attention and education to help them grow and thrive as individuals and members of their community.

Your accommodation will be in either a volunteer apartment or in homestay accommodation near your placement. Both homestays and school apartments have been inspected thoroughly by local staff and chosen because of their safety and security.

The program has start dates the first and third Monday of every month throughout the year.

This program ranges from 1-24 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.
 
Your Impact

As a Special Needs volunteer with IVHQ you’ll be helping a small team of local staff to care for children, teenagers and adults with a range of physical and mental disabilities. The most valuable contribution you can make is providing compassion and support.

Special Needs volunteers may find themselves helping with a range of tasks including:
  • Assisting special needs teachers
  • Helping with the basic activities of daily life
  • Preparing and serving meals
  • Cleaning
  • Supporting therapeutic activities and rehabilitation

How to Apply

Apply for free: Complete an online application form via the IVHQ website.
 
  • Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 1 to 24 weeks.
  • Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
  • Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
Need to make changes to your booking? You can make free unlimited changes to your destination, project and dates up until 14 days before you start.
