On this program, you will get hands-on experience caring for animals. Volunteers will assist in a wide range of tasks at a practicing veterinary clinic as well as taking part in outreach efforts which improve access to vital animal care in St Mary.
You’ll stay in a dormitory-style volunteer house.
The program has
start dates on the first and third Monday of each month throughout the year.

Your Impact
In Jamaica, animals aren’t always treated as beloved furry members of the family and are often neglected or abandoned. This often means the chances of them becoming ill or injured is high. As a veterinary volunteer you’ll work closely with local veterinary staff to provide care to these strays and other domesticated animals. You’ll be able to observe a range of procedures and practices, making this a great opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience. Volunteer duties often include:
- Assisting with operations
- Vaccinations
- Helping examine and treat animals
- General animal care
- Assisting with day-to-day operations
- Visiting farms to treat livestock

How to Apply
- Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 1 to 4 weeks.
- Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
- Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
