Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Teaching English & School Support Volunteering Project in Jamaica.

On this program, you will assist in busy classrooms in St Mary. Volunteers will gain teaching experience while lightening the load for local teachers and making sure students are well-supported and encouraged in their education.

You’ll stay in a dormitory-style volunteer house.

The program has start dates on the first and third Monday of each month throughout the year.

This program ranges from 1-4 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.
 
Your Impact

As a volunteer teacher you’ll assist local teachers in all aspects of lesson time, including both academic and non-academic tuition. You’ll be providing help to individuals, groups or to the whole class, where students range in age from between 5 and 12 years old. Teaching volunteer work can vary but generally includes:
  • Helping teachers with important curriculum lessons
  • Assisting with subjects like home economics, math, social studies and health
  • Provide attention to students who require individual support
  • Tutoring and mentoring students

  • Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 1 to 4 weeks.
  • Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
  • Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
Need to make changes to your booking? You can make free unlimited changes to your destination, project and dates up until 14 days before you start.
