Program Description:
Special Needs Spain
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Special Needs Support Volunteering Program in Barcelona.

On this program, you will assist with one-on-one care for people with a range of physical and mental disabilities. At a specialized center, volunteers gain experience supporting people with disabilities while helping provide individual care and connection that enables them to become more a part of their community.

Volunteers are accommodated in a dormitory-style hostel about 10 - 15 minutes from the city center of Barcelona.

The program has start dates the second and fourth Monday of every month throughout the year.

This program ranges from 2-12 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.
 
Your Impact

As a Special Needs Support volunteer in Barcelona, you’ll be based in centers that care for individuals with a wide range of physical and mental disabilities. You’ll be helping a team of local staff and volunteers, assisting in activities such as:
  • Arts and crafts
  • Physical therapy
  • Exercise
  • Activities including swimming or walking with dogs
  • Preparing food
  • Serving meals
  • Cleaning
  • Helping with personal hygiene

  • Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 2 to 12 weeks.
  • Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
  • Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
Need to make changes to your booking? You can make free unlimited changes to your destination, project and dates up until 14 days before you start.
