On this program, you will gain teaching, coaching and mentoring experience while sharing your love of sports with local students who are active, lively and love to play outdoors. Volunteers help deliver sports and lessons that cater to every ability, creating a fun and healthy environment.
You’ll stay in dormitory-style volunteer houses located in the Sigatoka area near the community where volunteers work. It is approximately 15 minutes by taxi from Sigatoka town and 2 minutes from the beach. The area has a very strong friendly Fijian culture. A curfew of 11:30 PM is in effect every evening, including weekends, to ensure the safety and respect of others in the volunteer accommodation.
The program has
start dates every Monday throughout the year.
This program ranges from 1-12 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available

Your Impact
Volunteers will be based either at after-school sports programs or in a local elementary school. This placement depends on your experience and time on the program. Volunteers with a coaching or sports qualification, who are in Fiji for four weeks or more, will be placed in schools. Volunteers who are staying for less than a month or don’t have sporting qualifications will help with after-school tutorials.
When you volunteer in schools in Fiji, you will:
- Assist local staff in structured physical education classes
- Playing games to help develop skills and understanding
- Help teachers with lessons that fit the local curriculum
As a Sports Education volunteer on after-school programs, your role is to:
- Play games with children
- Encourage fair play and teamwork
- Help children improve their skills and be active

How to Apply
- Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 1 to 12 weeks.
- Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
- Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
