SRAS Yerevan: Russian as a Second Language
In Yerevan, combine intensive Russian language study with exploration of a city and country teeming with history, art and spectacular nature. Russian is widely spoken as a second language and Armenia attracts many Russian-speaking visitors. Students training to teach Russian in Armenian schools will be active conversation partners for you, helping you to explore the city and activate your language. An integrated cultural program focusing on Armenian history and culture will take your learning outside the classroom.

RUSS 201/202/301//302/401 Russian Language Study
Small, intensive classes focus on reading, writing, grammar, speaking, and comprehension for 20 hours per week.
Summer (10 weeks): 10 credits; Summer (8 weeks): 8 credits; Summer (6 weeks): 6 credits
Travel and Cultural Program
The cultural program in Yerevan is designed to augment your language and cultural education. You will be given extensive background information on each event, encouraged to make notes or recordings, and will discuss the excursions afterwards in class and with your peer tutors. These fully integrated excursions will give you more real-world experiences from which to hear and absorb vocabulary, grammatical structures, and cultural information. Planned excursions include

Due to increased pressure on dormitory-style accommodation it is very likely that we will utilize hostels/hotels/guesthouses in summer 2024, with 2-3 per room.

Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASMU) is a state university and higher education institution based in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Founded in 1922, the university is specializes in pedagogy and the preparation of teaching staff. Named after the 19th-century Armenian writer Khachatur Abovian, the university today cooperates with many international educational organizations including the British Council and projects financed by the European Committee. ASMU additional hosts a "Pushkin Institute" teaching and testing center.

Yerevan is the growing capital of Armenia. Armenia was the world's first state to adopt Christianity and its history stretches back to the earliest years of known human civilization. Situated in the Caucasus Mountains, Yerevan is today known as a modern city that feels remarkably European. Museums and theaters mix with nightlife and cafe culture in the highly walkable city center. The city is also ringed with natural and historical attractions that are easily accessed. Yerevan is also a very affordable location.
Transcripts and Credit Transfer
This program is hosted by Yerevan State Pedagogical University in Yerevan in cooperation with SRAS. The School of Record for this program is Stetson University (Florida, USA).
Credit transfer to your home institution is usually possible. Additionally, a US School of Record means that your program is supported by and documented by an accredited US university. The School of Record will issue an American transcript, making credit transfer relatively routine.
