
CYA’s Winter intersession program offers classes in Archaeology. Our intersession courses are short-term, intensive study abroad opportunities open to students interested in extending their semester or for a short stand alone program over J-Term. Our winter courses take place from January 2 - January 22, 2026.

Voula Field School - Gain excavation experience by participating in the Voula Field School, an excavation at the site of Aixonidai Halai, one of the ancient municipalities on the coast of ancient Attica.
The Birth of States: Minoan Crete and the Making of Power - Explore state formation and the mechanisms that lead to their creation in the Eastern Mediterranean with a special focus on Bronze Age Crete from ca. 2000 to 1200 BCE.
Location:
Athens, Greece
Class Size: Courses range in size, but have an average of 15 students.
Housing: While in Athens, students live in the CYA apartments, which are located in central Athens and are a short walk to the academic center.
Meals: Meals are not included during the Winter term. Student apartments are equipped with kitchens, and there are a variety of grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance of the apartments.
Fees: The course fees covers tuition, housing in CYA apartments or hotel units, course materials, and visits to sites related to the course.
Fees do not cover personal travel (including travel between home and the location of the course in Greece), local public transportation, meals, personal belongings insurance, medical care or insurance, personal expenses and incidentals.
