Program Description:

Internships in Ireland

APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAMME

This Summer Internship Abroad programme is designed for students from a wide range of majors who want to gain professional experience while immersing themselves in Irish culture. Based across Ireland, students are matched with host companies that align with their field of study, interests, and career goals. Interns work Monday through Thursday in placements ranging from IT, data science, and biomedicine to business, marketing, finance, agriculture, and more. Fridays are reserved for excursions and cultural activities organised by Learn International.

The programme is run in partnership with Learn International and Irish host companies, and is open to students from across the US.

*Airfare, meals, spending money, and passport/visa fees are not included.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Over the course of 8–9 weeks, students will participate in tailored internship placements designed to develop practical experience, enhance professional readiness, and foster intercultural competence. Each placement is carefully matched to the student’s background, goals, and field of study. There are no cookie-cutter experiences. Students work alongside Irish professionals in small- and medium-sized firms, gaining mentorship, feedback, and insight into workplace culture.

Beyond the internship itself, Learn International provides structured support, including placement assessments, résumé and cover letter guidance, certified work hours, and supervisor feedback, to ensure that university credit requirements can be met. Students also benefit from pre-departure orientation, ongoing mentoring, and 24/7 in-country support.

Cultural immersion complements the professional experience. Fridays are dedicated to group excursions such as city tours, historic site visits, and traditional cultural activities, allowing students to explore Ireland’s rich history, landscapes, and communities. Together, this balance of academic, professional, and cultural elements creates an experience that fosters personal and professional growth in students.

Gain an international résumé boost, expand your professional network, and grow personally through a summer internship experience in Ireland.

HOUSING INFORMATION

Students will be housed in accommodation arranged by Learn International. Housing types may vary, but are carefully selected to provide comfort, accessibility, and integration with local life. Bedrooms are typically single or shared, with access to kitchen facilities, bathrooms, and communal living space. Meals are not included, so students should budget for groceries and lunches, as well as take advantage of the opportunity to experience Ireland’s cafés, markets, and restaurants. Final housing details are confirmed prior to departure.
