You will be volunteering at a children’s center run by Save the Children. The focus is on empowering children to know and apply their rights as well as providing a safe environment in which they can learn and play. Responsibilities are extremely varied on this project. You will be involved in the overall running of the center, from delivering health and safety sessions to ensuring the center is clean and tidy. The center is coordinated by Save the Children, whose expert staff will provide close supervision.

From this location we offer short-term volunteering starting from 2 weeks. We also offer internships which would include one-on-one mentoring and training by expert GVI staff and on longer durations can lead to job placements.

Volunteers can expect the following highlights on this program:
  • Living and volunteering in the Caribbean
  • contributing to diminishing child violence and abuse
  • supporting disadvantaged children
  • supporting the Save the Children fundraising campaign
  • living with volunteers from all over the world
  • participating in a range of activities
  •  immersing yourself in the Mexican culture
  • exploring the beaches, jungles and cenotes of the incredible Yucatan peninsula
If you do not speak Spanish, don’t worry! This program provides you with an excellent opportunity to learn a new language and work with children at the same time. Speak to your coordinator about arranging Spanish lessons, that will fully prepare you for life on the project.
