Intern Abroad in Spain
Why Intern in Spain?
Spain is the land of passionate flamenco dancing, thrilling bullfights, world class professional soccer, delicious paella, world renowned wine, and the language and culture that have influenced so many other countries all over the world. Interns who choose Spain as their destination have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this passionate and centuries-old culture, where multi-generational families remain tight-knit, and traditional foods are savored by proud locals. Students and graduates who intern in Spain gain meaningful professional experience in their career field, while also working on their Spanish language skills. And during their free time, interns can explore Spain’s many unique regions and cities, or travel farther afield to other European destinations.
Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.
Live in Seville or Valencia, Spain
The southernmost province of Spain is home to Seville, a city with soul. The culture is wildly flamboyant and extremely welcoming to international visitors. The beautiful colors of flamenco dresses, festival decorations and vibrant tapas make for never a dull moment in the city. Go out with a group of friends to watch the bullfights or simply stroll through the courtyard gardens while enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine. Happily get lost in the labyrinth of cobblestone streets in the city’s center and admire the striking architecture. Moorish influence can easily be seen throughout Seville, especially in the Alcázar of Seville, a royal palace thought to be the most beautiful palace throughout Spain. Modern additions were later added to the palace making it a perfect symbol of Seville’s diverse cultural influences.
Valencia is famous for its beautiful beaches, warm Mediterranean climate, delicious cuisine, and for its combination of medieval and modern influences as seen in the architecture of its buildings. Valencia is a city both ancient and new, and participants will have the opportunity to experience this amazing culture first-hand. Visiting open air markets frequented by local farmers and merchants, attending Spanish soccer matches, and sampling authentic Spanish food like hot chocolate with churros, and paella are among the many opportunities that give interns the quintessential Spanish experience.

Internships for Credit
Do you want to earn academic credit for your international internship? Nearly half of World Endeavors participants earn credit while interning abroad. Many students are required to participate in an internship to fulfill a requirement for their degree program. World Endeavors works closely with students and their academic advisors to ensure that our program meets those requirements. If you don’t fall into that category there is another exciting option for you. Through our collaboration with University of California Berkeley, students can earn UC Berkeley credit by taking one of two online courses while interning abroad.
